The Lantern in Willowdeep Wood
A Dreamtime story
Deep in Willowdeep Wood, where the moss grew soft and the trees leaned close together, a small hedgehog named Pip was snuffling through the fallen leaves. Tucked beneath a tangle of roots, he found something curious: an old lantern, its glass a little dusty, its light gone out completely.
Art that grows with your child
Newborns can't really see a watercolour: colour vision takes months to mature, and what a young baby's eyes actually lock onto is bold, high-contrast black-and-white. So Dreamtime's illustration style is calibrated to your child's age, not just the words.
How it works
From sign-up to tonight's story in minutes.
Set up in 2 minutes
Create your household, add your children's ages, and pick the themes and values you'd like woven into their stories: fantasy, animals, kindness, courage, and more.
A new story, every day
Each afternoon, a story is written fresh for your household: calibrated to your youngest child's age, illustrated on every page, ready before bedtime.
Rate it, and it gets better
Read it together, or tap play and let the narration take over. A quick thumbs up or down after each story quietly steers what turns up next.

Not just a name dropped into a template
One new story each evening, written for your child's age, with the values you chose woven in and the characters they met last week turning up again.
Recurring characters your child grows attached to
Pin a favourite character from tonight's story and they'll turn up again in future adventures: a cast your child grows attached to across nights, not a fresh stranger every time.
Values woven in, never lectured
Kindness, courage, patience, gratitude: whatever you choose gets threaded gently into the plot. Dreamtime never stops the story to deliver a moral.
Calibrated to your child's age
From a 60-word rhythmic tale for a baby under one to a richer adventure for a seven-year-old, every story is pitched at your youngest child's stage, not a one-size-fits-all script.
A picture on every page
Book mode never leaves a page bare. Every page carries its own illustration, in a style matched to your child's age, right down to the high-contrast art newborns can actually see.
Audio narration
Read it together for the bedtime ritual, or tap play and let soothing narration take over when you need a hand. Your call, every night.
